Amrita Datta is an Assistant Professor of Visual Communication Design at Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, Indiana. Datta’s research focuses on people-centered design approaches to investigate cross-cultural design identity. Datta received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kent State University in the department of Visual Communication Design with a concentration in user-experience design. Shortly after, she moved to Indiana to pursue her Master of Fine Arts degree at Indiana University (Indianapolis) to major in Design Research and Strategy with expertise in design thinking and product development. She has been facilitating programs with schools in South Korea, Germany and India to explore more opportunities for cross-cultural experiences for her undergraduate students. This goal is aimed towards achieving the integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within design education in America. Datta’s research has been peer-reviewed nationally and internationally through professional publications in AIGA’s SHIFT{ed} Summer Summit 2021 and International Association of Societies of Design Research (IASDR 2021).
