Eric Venegas, MFA, is a multi-disciplinary visual communication professional who wears many hats—figuratively speaking. On any given day and at any given time, he is a designer, illustrator, art director, impromptu writer, production manager, or customer service representative as the owner of Small Hat Studio. In addition, Venegas collaborates with other creatives as needed—including copywriters, photographers, and developers—to achieve his client’s goals.

For more than 20 years, Venegas’ peers have recognized him as a seasoned design professional whose work has appeared in Print, Communication Arts, and LogoLounge. However, more recently, Eric has been a newcomer to academia. As an adjunct faculty member at Texas A&M University-Commerce, Mr. Venegas teaches classes in branding, creative methodologies, and introduction to visual communication. Currently, Eric’s research interests include increasing the number of Black and Latinx students in design through art forms such as graffiti and muralism.
