This conversation will delve into how human-centered design and long-term community collaborations can help address the complex legal issues faced by Marshallese immigrants in our country. Marty Maxwell Lane, design educator and administrator, will sit down with Autumn Tolbert, defense attorney, and Melisa Laelan, Founder and Executive Director of the Arkansas Coalition of the Marshallese, to share why it is critical to have community experts involved in all stages of the design process to ensure that cultural differences are understood and to avoid the pitfalls that may come with designers operating from a place of assumption.
