Michael facilitates organizational evolution in local government. Currently he serves as the Chief Innovation Officer for Montgomery County MD working with a community of innovators to build a just, human, liberating government (we’re hiring!). Michael has helped cities from from Miami to Las Vegas launch their own innovation programs, designed a learning network of mayors and municipalities growing civic engagement, and convened a coalition of local governments ensuring everyone counts in the 2020 Census. Previously, Michael served as the Chief Policy and Innovation Officer for Chattanooga TN where he helped map Administration strategy, implement priority projects, and catalyze change from the police department to the permitting desk. He led an Agile overhaul of the city’s Budgeting for Outcomes strategic planning process and co-launched Chattanooga’s PEAK Academy to transform how the city serves citizens. Michael learned operations working on a brewery can line in California and in warehouses in Tennessee. Previous experience includes data analytics, brand marketing, and performance management for Anheuser Busch InBev, and communications for Alipes CME. He loves playful street art, Pete Seeger, storytelling, and all things outdoors.
