David Colby Reed is a designer and futurist. He co-founded Foossa, an independent service design practice, and the Space Governance Collaborative, based at MIT.

The connecting thread in his work has been creating enabling conditions for democratic equality and sustainable development on and beyond Earth. As a design entrepreneur, he has worked to make public services more inclusive, respectful, and high-performing in their execution. As a social scientist in engineering heavy spaces, he seeks to articulate approaches to technology design ethics that center political economy. As a facilitator, he makes stakeholders perspectives more legible to one another. As a futurist, he helps organizations imagine new forms of shared value.

David studied cognitive science at Harvard, public policy at NYU, and system design at MIT. He is currently a PhD candidate at the MIT Media Lab and works in the Space Enabled research group, which advances justice through applied space technologies.
