Christopher Costes (he/they) works as a service designer for Chase, but has also been a writer, a product designer, a legal aid, a product manager, and a researcher. Across these experiences, he used design to communicate, think through, and interact with complex systems, leveraging both creative and analytical thinking.
In his Master’s thesis, Christopher explored the role of “other ways of knowing” within design, examining ways designers might expand their perspective beyond the mechanistic and actively embrace a wider spectrum of knowing. From this research stemmed a critical examination of where design came from, how it operates today, and ~most importantly~ where it might take us.
Today, Christopher works to understand the role of design as a tool for creating new and more holistic futures. He holds a Bachelor’s of English from UC Berkeley, two master’s degrees from Carnegie Mellon’s SoD, and thinks writing about yourself in third person is fun.
