With more than a decade practicing as a graphic designer, Sofía is currently a design researcher interested in the overlap of public innovation and design education. Born and raised in Mexico City, she is based in Pittsburgh where as a Teaching Fellow pursues a PhD in Transition Design at Carnegie Mellon University. Her professional practice spans over a diversity of Mexican federal and local government offices as the National Digital Strategy, the Lab for the City and Agency for Digital Public Innovation. She has also worked and collaborated with international and philanthropic institutions as the International Labor Organization and Bloomberg. As a Chevening Scholar, Sofía studied an MA in Design: Critical Practice from Goldsmiths College in London and holds a BFA in Design from Concordia University in Canada. She is a co-host of the Spanish/English bilingual podcast Design in Transition/Diseño en Transición.
