As an IT Specialist in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services, Alex Wilson supports the crosscutting initiatives of the InnovationX portfolio: the LymeX Innovation Accelerator, COVID-19 Data-Driven Innovation, and the KidneyX Innovation Accelerator. Using IT best practices, he helps the InnovationX team facilitate conversations with partners and collaborators and ensure the success of projects in the portfolio. He is passionate and excited to lead the Health+ methodology, a framework involving patients at every step of the innovation process to identify opportunity areas to address the challenges for individuals facing Lyme disease. Before joining the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health in October 2020, Alex served as an IT Specialist in the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Before he arrived at HHS in February 2020, Alex served as a Product Owner at Silverchair, a software platform for scholarly and professional publishers. As Product Owner, he worked with his clients to define display requirements from publishers for displaying books, journals, and proceedings in an online format. Then, he translated those requirements for software engineers to capture and store those details into a database in an organized, machine-readable format. Mr. Wilson graduated from the University of Virginia with a Masters of Engineering in Systems Engineering in May of 2020. He also graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors of Science in Commerce with a specialization in Information Technology in 2013.
