Business and Teams Track

12:00 PM - 2:00 PM (EDT)
Resilience in Ourselves and Our Teams

Resilience – what is it? What is it not? How do you continuously cultivate it for yourself and your team during this time?
With a global pandemic, the continued fight for racial justice, an intense election season, and so many other reasons – responding with a strong sense of resiliency can help one weather the storms. During the pandemic, Ariba led multiple teams through various projects which required them to shift how they work, on-top of migrating to remote-first work. You will hear how they reimagined collaboration, communication, and processes to reduce the stress load while maintaining forward momentum.
In this workshop, Ariba will demystify resilience and we will explore how to lead your teams while keeping their resiliency in mind and what learnings to bring into the post COVID work life.

The Workshop will cover:
Explore the different between resilience, hustle culture and survival
Understand what it takes to create and nurture resilience in ourselves and our teams
How to codesign team collaboration, communication and ways of working
How to nurture team rituals that cultivate team safety and trust
Create a self resilience toolkit

2:30 PM - 4:30 PM (EDT)
Negotiating Projects for Success and then Keeping Them on Track

Experienced designers know that negotiating the scope of work, budget, and schedule are key challenges at the start of every potential project. They also understand that surprises may come up later on. This fast-moving workshop will share insider tips for defining and planning each project so that it’s do-able, and provide expert advice for staying on track and producing good work according to that plan. We’ll compare and contrast the challenges faced by design firms working directly with end clients, those with projects subcontracted to them from other outside firms, and those brought in to collaborate with an in-house creative department.
